Legendární mač v americkém fotbale, jehož tradice sahá hluboko do minlosti je zván The Game. Zápas s Harvardem je posledním a nejdůležitějším utkáním sezóny. Kromě toho také ukázat Harvardu, co v nás je, Huck Farvard. Vtipná trička a pokřiky se tradičně objevily na obou stranách.
Každý rok se střídá místo utkání, letos to bylo v Bostonu, na Harvardu, příští rok se Hra bude konat u nás na Yalu. Naše univerzita vypravila desítky autobusů, protože zájem byl samozřejmě obrovský. Harvard nám sice dal slevu na vstupenky ale beztak mě celá výprava nestála málo. V pátek večer jsem s pár kamarády předběhl frontu abychom se dostali spolu s dalšími freshmany z Trumbullu do stejného autobusu, což se ukázalo jako prozíravé, protože můj spolubydlící Andrew, co se opozdil se dostal do autobusu přibližně když my jsem vystupovali v Bostonu.
Ušetřím vás dalších detailů, přenocovali jsme ve společenské místnosti jedné z Harvardských kolejí, Cabot House. Ráno po snídani jsme se vydali na stadion na tailgate. To je akce, co u nás před fotbalem nemáme. Ti co mohou tak pijí, ti co nemohou tak si nacpou břicha jídlem a všichni jsou veselí, protože se ještě neví, který tým prohraje.
Hru samotnou jsem shledal velmi zdlouhavou a ze začátku nudnou a to jednak proto, že narozdíl od normálního fotbalu není v americkém fotbalu vždy poznat, kdo má vlastně míč, a druhak protože se vždy hraje kolem osmi sekund a pak se domlouvají strategie a vyměňují hráči. Každý tým má asi sto hráčů, ale v poli je jich vždy jen deset (?). Protože mi kdosi dříve vysvětlil pravidla, alespoň jsem věděl, co se na hřišti dějě. Ke konci se hra stala zajímavější, protože jsme prohrávali a povzbuzovali jsme naše bílomodré hráče aby to dotáhli ale marně. Prohráli jsem počtvrté v řadě, a to 21:28.
